Another Ithaca

Ithaca Street

Struggle’s the trek

On the short street called Ithaca,

Which begins with St. Bartholomew’s

And ends with Teriyaki One.

Teriyaki One

All languages spoken here.

Evil feasts first,

Pillaging Ithaca

Save scraps for the scrappy.

Ponderous cruelty and paltry kindness

On the long road.

An ex-wielding God chases me,

While I concoct my possible sins.

I dare not peek to see

If Poseidon’s less punishing.

A cherry tree softens the sky.

Cherry tree

I once smelled perfume

On the sweet street named Ithaca.

I tried some at the counter for free.
